Jones Unity Funeral Home Obituaries - Robert 'Gunny' Gunther

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert 'Gunny' Gunther, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He was 73 years old at the time of his death.

Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Clarence and Margaret (Long) Gunther, Gunther grew up with a strong sense of community and family values. He is survived by his loving wife, 'wife's name'; two children, Robert Gunther and William E.S. Gunther; three grandchildren, Robert, Samuel, and 'granddaughter's name'; brother, Charles 'Chucky' Gunther; sister, Barbara Clemens; mother-in-law, Ruth (Jones) Dickson and family; and many nieces and nephews.

Gunny was a proud veteran of the Dominican Republic civil war reinforcement, serving as a paratrooper in the Army with the 82nd Airborne 325th infantry division. After his military service, he worked at Elliott Company before retiring and later working at I.T.L.S. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Gunny was known for his outgoing personality and his love for cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always up for an adventure.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday at Bacha Funeral Home, Inc., 2072 Route 130, Pleasant Unity. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM at the same location with Pastor Richard Ziegenfus officiating.

Interment will follow at 12:30 PM in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.

In addition to his parents, Gunther was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Nothwang and Shirley Pierce; brother-in-law and best friend, Al Clemens; and faithful fur friends, Otis and Marley.

We extend our deepest condolences to Gunny's loved ones during this difficult time. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
